Why? People are curious, so if someone deletes a comment/thread, then people are going to start to wonder why? It doesn’t give any welcoming response to anyone if a thread or comment deleted. This is a good point, on my car clubs board if people get stupid they lock the thread leave it up there and the admin just makes a post at the bottom saying why it was locked.
We also have a timeout thread, and if you are bad you get put in there. You can’t see the rest of the board and you can only post in the timeout section.. I think that one goes a bit far but I like the idea of thread locking.

Tracy or someone has been over there deleting posts and changing the original context of the thread. Why am I not surprised?

IMO, leaving all the comments up, for all to read, allows the readers to make their own decisions on which members to avoid and which ones to seek out. The members will create their own reputations.
