Well I have read enough to know that there’s major issues going on that I do not want any part of………..and the questions I asked that were “stupidly simple” have been answered. The PMs, etc. that I addressed were issues that I had seen addressed in other areas of threads on this site and I hadn’t thought about a “big brother” angle before. I just thought it odd to see a person one day and the next they are wiped from the face of this PT earth. Period.
After re-reading most of the comments, I have noticed that almost all of those who seem to be informed are mavens – which does imply that you all probably do have private discussions about banning and other issues – which sounds like the normal thing to do. I think sometimes you fail to remember that all of the rest of us who read your comments don’t know the rest of the story as you do. So what may appear to sound like a dumb question, may indeed be very ligitimate. I think the underlining meaning to everyone’s question has been that they would have like to have seen a comment that simply said something to the effect of “XXXX is no longer with us. Tracy’s decision. Enough said. Further comments are not accepted.” Yes, it might have caused curiosity, but no more so than usual and certainly it would not have caused any more strong emotions as have been displayed on this thread. And as you said Tracy, you’re new to a lot of this too. Although we may miss Happy, she is gone. And I agree she is a person with feelings too. I also think that we should be mature enough to agree that it’s easy to be a Monday Morning quarterback and say what should have been done. But Tracy, we don’t walk in your shoes and it is your site.
I tried to respectfully word my comments as to not offend others and did say so. I would hope, in the future, I be given that same respect to replies of my comments as well. Let me be clear, I’m not offended, just surprised at some of the responses made on this post. Tracy did PM me with her thoughts and concerns, for the record, and I thank her for that and it is not her comments that I am referring. As I said in my original comment, if my comments should have been made privately, then I’m sorry. However, in light of all the comments from various other members of this community, I just simply had questions about policies of banning, etc and I don’t consider my limited knowledge of this site to indicate my stupidity of a subject However, I will not make the same mistake twice. I did acknowledge the intent of PT as being to inform others of the information of MKC and their happenings. I wished you well as I still do. PT is still a much needed service in the pink world out there.
Thank you Tracy for providing the forum for our many pink and non-pink discussions. And as Forrest Gump would say, “And that’s all I’ve got to say about that”. Pretty profound statement from a simple man and I, for one, think I’ll follow his advise. 
I think you asked great questions. Not stupid at all! 
And something you said sparked a lot of thought in me. Which is why I responded. Not to diss you or make you feel bad, but to share my own experience. Because you brought up a very interesting point that I have heard before and found to be completely untrue.
And as for Mavens responding, well that doesn’t mean much of anything other than the folks who responded here had something to say on the matter. Here. There is no Group Think or Kaffeeklatsch amongst Mavens.
Frankly I replied at all because I wanted to express both compassion for a former member and her privacy, and my unwavering support to Tracy for her tough decision to both remove this person and spare everyone the gory details. |

Our PMs are private unless you hit the “report to moderator” button or copy and paste them into a new message or forward your email copy to someone else. It is up to the two who exchange a PM to keep their own PMs private.
That’s nice to know. This will be the first board I have been on that the mods and administrators didn’t read the pm’s sometimes. And I don’t mean just the pm’s reported as a problem. Mostly they read them in order to keep things rolling along smoothly. And usually not as a regular practice. But I have been on one or two where they read many of them all the time. One they had to — it was run by a newspaper in England. Their laws are different and for whatever law, they had to monitor everything. |
I bought a book on overcoming procrastination. Someday I may get around to reading it.

After Reading Dizzy’s post I got the distinct impression that my “stupid simple” coloquialism was taken as an insult.
Here again, this is why words contribute to assumptions, that are never intended..In my neck of the woods, “stupid simple” is a phrase that means “easy to understand.” It isn’t a phrase that describes a person or is directed at a person.
Use the words “easy to understand” in place of stupid simple in my post and see if it doesnt sit better. No disrespect intended.
But again..see how easy the typed word without tone of voice, eye contact, body language, can send an entirely different message? The retaliation then starts, and becomes “some with an air of superiority”…or some who “put down ” people, etc…Can I guess that you mean me? See how that is?
It is wrong conclusions jumped to, by not understanding the intent of the words, or the heart of the messenger. It is just a tough situation with just these letters trying to convey your meaning. Maybe everybody should get in the habit of saying, “did you mean to say…?” Before any hostilities surface. That way we could clear up misunderstandings before they fester or get ugly…and maybe avoid all this, altogether. |

I do understand the responses…as someone who has been a “voice of reason” on a lot of blogs in the past year I think I know where people are coming from.
What makes me sad, though, is that I do not feel I was clear. I was not merely ‘reacting’ to what happened to Happy/Sickie but the idea of banning in general. It is wrong and it must stop. Used effectively, obviously it is a good tool but when used to spite people it’s wrong.
Maybe Happy/Sickie “deserved” to be banned…I cannot see that and it’s not my call I suppose. That is why it made sense for me to leave instead of fighting to make myself understood. It just comes off as argumentative. When I’m surrounded by people who seem as though they are happy the way things are…well…what can you do with that?

PTer’s: If THIS drivel is considered “classy” than call me white trash and send me back to the trailer park. Most of you have said that you trust Tracy because ****** broke the rules. (Tracy won’t even let you mention her name, she is THAT bad.) Did anyone COMPLAIN to Tracy about Sickie? I’ve talked to Sickie about all the “gory” details. SHE doesn’t even understand why she was banned. Of course Tracy will say she’s just not telling me the truth. What can I do about that?
One theory is that Tracy thought that Sickie was finding out who everyone on PT was so she could further her business of consigning MK stuff on ebay. In an e-mail to Sickie, Tracy mentions allowing Sickie to promote her business. Is that why she was banned? Sickie wasn’t secretly trying to get business. She was pretty obvious about it. She helped A LOT of people on PT get rid of their stuff. Did someone complain about her? That’s none of our business, right Tracy!
Tracy admitted in chat that she banned Sickie for “speaking without permission.” A) What the hell does that even mean? B) So Tracy is telling people stuff about the banning.
PTer’s, if you trust everything Tracy says as gospel, be ready for the day when you will be banned and all your “friends” smile serenely and go about their day because it’s “none of their business”.

Right dizzy, either share Tracy’s opinion or be shown the door. I didn’t change my mind about MK and it’s business plan. I changed my mind about Tracy. From that point on she has been looking for a reason to ban me and I knew it.
MKRealist made a good point one day. She said that Tracy needed to decide what kind of leader she wanted to be. (sorry if I quoted that wrong MKR).

PUR also played a big part in that role of getting me banned. I think I should take time out right now to thank PUR for that kind gesture. I am now using my “real” screen name. I was banned a long time ago, so sorry she won’t be able to do it again.
I have no idea why I was banned — had never posted anything controversial, was only supportive of the mission…
I think I was probably banned because I am a member at Pink Lighthouse, and most of us were banned the same day!
Thank GOD!! I still like to hang out at PL because we mostly discuss things OTHER than mary kay — ya know, once you are over it you are over it!
Anyway, my aliases will probably still post here at times, but the real TUP will also be joining the fun… 🙂
