Ok you bitches, am I missing something here? I thought one of the rules of PinkTruth was that you could not advertise your business and you could not promote an MLM. Right?
I know some of you were talking about this on another thread and this was just emailed to me. Why don’t all you heffas read this thread and tell me if you think it violates the rules on PinkTruth. And if you are in agreement with me, which I KNOW you will be, then how much ass lickin’ did Shay have to do in order to promote her business? That’s right ladies, she must be shoved so far up Tracy’s ass, she aint seen the light of day for quite some time. Well, at LEAST since August 25th.
If I’m wrong about my observation, I might admit it. Or not. Either way, I think that’s some crazy shit right there!

I have a new website for my WAHM group.
I am sooooo proud of the ladies in this group. So many of them that were in MLM’s when they joined are now forming their OWN businesses from scratch!  In fact, 2 of the members have joined together to start a cake decorating business! (I am so proud!  )

I have not set up strict rules about not allowing women from DS companies. As I said, many of the ladies who were in DS companies/MLM ‘s when they joined are slowly “seeing the light” and starting their own companies.

I don’t have links to the SBA or other sites like that on the site – when they join the group, I sit down with them and figure out what they want to do and then help them get what they need from the SBA and other small biz sites. |

What a really good goal. I remember looking at WAHM a couple years back, and it kind of made me crazy the way they had so much MLM promotion there. I thought so much had gone off track from what the site seemed like it would be about.
Anyway, I’m glad to see that you have a group who are getting away from MLM and doing real businesses. More power to you all |

I am VERY subtle. I never talk down about anyone’s company. I even order from members if they have something I like/want (Avon, Pampered Chef, etc.).
But I listen to them. When they have a concern, I listen. Maybe it was a week where every class cancelled. Maybe it was a product or catalog change. Maybe it was just just being frustrated with not making any money. Or working really hard to only make a little money.
And then I talk to them about either a) getting a regular job or b) starting their own biz from scratch. Never critical. Just suggesting. |

It’s not as homespun as WAHM…there are few to NO mlms and these women are awesome. There are great resources for women starting real cottage industry businesses….I got some great info on adding a “shopping cart” to my site and some great website info as well from women who run their own webdesign companies…it rocks…

Alright, at the risk of getting tomatoed, I am going to share this.
I have a hard time with this thread. It seems to me that although this site does not actively promote MLMs, it doesn’t condemn them either. While I personally do not see anything wrong with that, as I certainly don’t take a hard line against them (as long as people know they have a very expensive hobby, and not a business), the issue that I am having is that one of my friends here in cyber world got nearly crucified for posting about her business. It was taken that she was promoting MLMs and “feeding the beast” though I can’t remember who exactly said that. I am sure I could look it up.
I had a very difficult time swallowing the, what I considered public humiliation, after she discreetly got rid of her own post not to cause any issues.
To me, this is not much different from my friend. My problem is not with the website, or even the promoting it. Personally my problem is that I really see this as another thread on the same cloth. The difference is that one is being encouraged, and one was reprimanded.
Maybe I have been up too long, and I am missing something here. Maybe it doesn’t matter anymore, but I have to ask why one is allowed and the other was not.

From the small bit of contact I had with her at PT, she seemed ok. I seem to remember she said she was single mother with a disabled child. No offense to single mother’s or anything like that. Call me anything you want, but it seems that Shay’s website has an alternate agenda than helping women work at home. Or maybe I just need another cup coffee to clear my head.

What does “apparently blatent” mean? LOL! When people realize they’ve made a mistake, they sometimes (usually?) try to rectify their mistakes. BUT, when under such scrutiny and criticism, people might defend their mistakes as if they do not need to apologize, go back and look at past decisions, rectify. It’s hard to admit mistakes. Shay has been graceful.

The hypocrisy is not Shay’s, it’s tracy’s. Shay made NO MISTAKE as far as I am concerned. She was merely asking for feedback on her site and again, nothin’ wrong with that. What is hypocritical is that Annezoo was bludgeoned for her post by PUR and Tracy…and after issuing “new rules” in the wake of that and hangin Anne out to dry on a sticky, as it were, Shay’s post is greeted differently. I do not understand why except that this is Tracy’s whim. This is how the site is run. It’s a “judgement call” and the judgement is uneven.
Shay HAS been gracious. Anne was very gracious as well. She is a class act all the way and I do respect Shay’s efforts in her site and her responses to the people who have questioned her. Shay has not offered an apology to me for my new favorite label of DRAMAQUEEN but I have also not requested one…so, Free…I’m cool with that. I don’t think it’s really that telling of her character, I’m willing to give grace there…plus that I just think it’s funny…like “that metaphor person.”

Yeah, I’m with FFPT. I’m not feeling so generous with Shay. She was horrible on the threads from last week and two weeks ago.
Lucky for her they all got deleted, so no one on PT can go back and see just how nasty she was to the “dissenters”. (And just how much kissing up she did to Tracy during that time.)
I am 100% confident that all that brown-nosing earned her the “promote your MLM-supporting website until the cows come home” pass.
