Does “suspended” mean they could get their privileges back at some point?
 That’s depressing to think that we can’t decide for ourselves who and when and how to give karma.
I just want to raise my hand too, b/c I think this post got buried in all of the cake. lol Do people have the opportunity to earn privileges back? I can’t figure out how you would harass someone with positive karma (I guess I am assuming, and we all know where that gets you, it was positive karma anyhow). I think it sounds like Not is also concerned that giving friends karma for something would somehow backfire?? I don’t think that is the intent, but it sounds like it is a concern for her. (as she mentioned being able to chose when to give karma).My real question is, do people ever earn things back? I hope that isn’t a question I will need answered personally, but it is a good general knowledge question, and I don’t see it in the rules, like it is with the certain number of posts earning things… |

I gotta give you props, girl, for hanging in there!Tracy, I’m saddened by the turn of events lately … I don’t even understand your mission anymore … I’ve just tried to be on board with helping women get out of MK or any other MLM, but watching people get verbally smacked down on the boards has just left me stunned. Straight up answers w/o the sarcasm would benefit everyone and probably decrease the amount of “drama” on the boards … I’m really sorry it’s come to all of this b/c making my decision to leave the pink beast came about b/c of the info on your website and the support I received, but this has just gotten crazy enough for me to say, “stick a fork in me, I’m done!” The last time I was in a situation where leadership said to those asking questions “stop it, mind your own business and behave” was when a minister on staff at my church turned out to be a sexual predator … it didn’t have to get as far as it did, but those who questioned were silenced and everyone else just looked the other way. How do you propose that the Pink Truth community, Tracy, or the Maven moderators deal with people who seem intent on disrupting the community through use of the discussion board tools, like karma and PM, for the purpose of shifting the focus away from getting information out about MLM and supporting each other to sending hundreds of graffiti-like incessant references to a former member who left on her own accord? What will it take to get back on track here?
I really want to hear from you both, and I realize that you each have a stake in this discussion because you are both friends with the member who left. I understand that your loyalties are in play here, and I am seeking to understand how we can help Pink Truth become a better place for all. |

I believe that openness would be the best way to put information out for consideration by the readers here. I remember a pastor who told us one Sunday that our church doors were big enough that we could bring our head in. He was telling us that it is ok to THINK. That we don’t all have to follow blindly, that we could question how things were done and what was being said. This was a very devout soul and he meant it when he said that.
MK can be a totally controlling force in lives. As others have said here, it can be like of a cult. Many posters on this site have been extremely helpful and supportive of newly emerging consultants/directors. But we can’t all think the same thoughts now! If that happens/is enforced, then PT becomes no better than MK. At least that is my opinion. Some of the banning/privileges taken away activities have troubled me. After thinking it over (a lot!), it is appearing that PT is edging towards a controlling force. Some are afraid of posting their opinions if they disagree with certain people on here.
We humans are weak, and we all have different personalities. I think an open forum is a great way to discuss topics. Now this does not mean that I would want bullies to be allowed to run roughshod over all because then, again, we will have people unwilling to open themselves to possible abuse. But open conversation over opposing points is NOT bullying.
In my first sentence, I stated …I believe that openness would be the best way to put information out for consideration by the readers here. I think if information is put out into the “fresh” air, it will stir things up for the moment but then we go on. Secretiveness and retaliation will only serve to cause more unease and distrust. Kinda like when someone gets sprayed by a skunk. If you put it out into the sunshine, the odor will fade away as will your memory of that odor. If you take off the garments you are wearing and shut them away in a dark, closed space, the odor will permeate everything near it and I don’t think it ever truly goes away. And you will never want to open that closet/box again!
I may be a pollyanna, but I believe in the fairness of people. I think that when you allow people to know the whole truth, see all sides of it, they will come to a fair conclusion. If they do not agree with you, they will move on to a place where they are more comfortable, and that is OK. But controlled information or no information will only serve to cause more discord.
Hope I explained myself here. Sometimes I am as clear as mud! I have learned a lot here at PT, and would like to see open discussion continue and encouraged, so that others can also learn.

I love a good mystery.
What if…………what if…………a large Cosmetics Daycare that had unscrupulous tactics and overpriced fees, had a competitor down the street that shouted from the rooftops about how bad the daycare was….and no matter what the nasty daycare did, they couldn’t shut their competitor up? So one day, they decided to sign up their own children at the competitors daycare…just to iritate the children, poison the food and make messes…so that the Good daycare had no time or energy to get the facts out about the nasty one.
What if ???
I’m just saying.
Here is a solution: Tracy refrains from sarcasm since it doesnt transfer as humor on a typed page, Or else you need a special happy face guy that everyone recognizes as Tracy’s sarcasm guy….AND, anyone gets a quick email message if they are doing questionable things, BEFORE any privileges are suspended, so that they know why or can explain themselves, thereby maintaining a grown up professional relationship…OR, anybody who says or shoots out something REALLY FOUL, gets all privileges shut down, then the email, then they can respond however they want.
Never forget the mentally ill DO visit here. And some of you know who you are.

Yeah, I don’t see any point to pointing fingers either (no pun intended). That’s definitely not what I’m trying to do. If we are honest with ourselves, we know that there are four fingers pointing back at us, right?
Re: sarcasm, sniping, biting comments — I think if you look through past threads (and this one, too), you’ll see examples from many people. I think these types of comments are born out of frustration by Tracy and other members of PT. Some comments (again, look through this thread) don’t even seem to be biting/sarcastic on first glance, but people take them that way and post their own biting/sarcastic comments, and you end up with a fairly unpleasant thread that didn’t have to be that way.
And I am sort of surprised you are asking me what this mess is, but if it’s unclear, I meant the fact that there has been a mass exodus of PT members in the past couple of weeks as well as posts on other blogs about the subject. Look at marvie’s post above for an example.

A former member has left the building.
Note this: she left on her own. I know some people who are close to her miss her and are confused by the situation. I think in an effort to respect her privacy and not engage in gossip about her situation and why exactly she no longer wanted to be here and was eventually no longer welcome by the site administrator, this allowed only her side of the story to circulate and people are now actively trying to disrupt the community on her behalf.
I think this is a very unfortunate situation. Truly. And how do we move on without sinking down in the mud and start slinging what amounts to gossip back and forth?
A member used to participate at Pink Truth. She left of her own accord. END OF STORY.
Suspension or removal of member privileges needs to be a very last resort in my opinion. In a community this size, sometimes it is a necessary action. My hope is that this is an exceedingly RARE occurrence, that becomes rarer still. However there are folks who seem to be trying to provoke such a response to see — what? I don’t honestly know.
If you are looking for more information on what the fuss is about with the member who left, I do not know that you will ever get the whole story. Tracy is discreet and actually seems to care enough for this person and the members and visitors to Pink Truth to not air her dirty laundry. So can you live with that?
P.S. Define mass exodus. Out of 2,600+ members only a handful even know who the heck we are even talking about. |

Unbelieveable—you are so right..the 3 fingers pointing back never quite get their full appreciation.
No I think the reason that alot of the reasons why conflicts between people were not aired is that it didnt put the individuals in a very good light. This might surprise some, but if Tracy were to bring to light the whys and wherefore’s… “out in the daylight”…what you think you believe about people, or who you think they really are, would be dashed. I am sure there are people here that never in their wildest dreams would have imagined that women who appeared noble or upright or intelligent on this blog , would align themselves with others celebrating the opposite.
Anyway, at that point, sharing words spoken in anger is gossip, and defamatory and serves no positive purpose. I think I can safely say and get all of you to agree with me, that we do not have all the facts out in plain view. Right? And isn’t it always funny how when a person gets to say why they did or said something, we usually have a “oh NOW I understand” moment?
How ironic is it that by Tracy moving on and not dishing her side, is allowing for some individuals to influence others, with partial information. Taking the highroad almost always has some personal costs.
What may look like “controlling” behavior is simply frustration. And I would also guess that if Tracy is now reading this post..she is probably saying, “Why do I let my sarcasm fly?”

I think the banning thing has gotten much better, in fact, I don’t know of anyone who’s been banned recently, so that’s good. I liked raisin’s idea too, though you can always just add a “Jk” or a smiley face. And I obviously agree with pinkmomster on the openness thing. Yay, openness. So see, we’re already improving things!

Oh jeez, this is a hot thread, apparently four (now five!) posts were posted while I was typing this one. Anyway, what you say about frustration, raisinberry, is exactly what I said in my original post.
I’m actually not asking for the reasons why people are banned ( I agree with pinkmomster on this point). I don’t think that’s so important. The “openness” thing refers to just being open about our thoughts and feelings about how things are run now. We should feel free to voice our concerns. Like I said above, I think that is getting a lot better, although it is obviously causing some strife with a few members. But strife is okay, as long as we can work it out calmly, rationally, (dare I say nicely?) and with the community’s best interests at heart. |

PUR, I think there are a lot of people (do you want me to guess how many? 30-40?) who used to very much enjoy PT and who now don’t. Part of why I don’t like it is because people can be so mean. Look at your response to my question in the question game thread. You didn’t have to answer my question, but you chose to and you chose to be mean. I have been on classmates.com because my 10 year reunion is coming up, so that kind of question is on my mind. If you think it is lame, you don’t have to answer it. Out of 2500 people, someone will appreciate my question and answer it, right? I don’t act or speak on other’s behalf. I just make a lot of emotional decisions and it sometimes gets me in trouble. I am very much controlled and manipulated by my emotions.
When I nominated the gossip thread for a sticky, it wasn’t on your behalf. It was something I felt like doing because I like you and I like that thread. So if I give karma it is not on behalf of anyone. I like the people that I like based on the information that I have. I reward people that I like by giving them karma. Also, like pinkmomster, I am a pollyanna and continue to believe that people deserve to have you judge them based on what they have showed you. So basically I have a stamp on my forehead that says “Manipulate Me Please”.

Hi “I” refers to the DISC training that Directors had to go through in many MLMs. This was a test we would give our consultants to see what motivates them to buy more inventory and not quit the business. It is very insidious, and PT has many articles on DISC that are being loaded up on the main site. We can laugh now at DISC, but we were all tested for it!
D’s supposedly made good NSDs, very ambitious, and thrived on training
I’s craved recognition and time on-stage, are the “life of the party”
S’s are very social, loyal and make great friends
C’s are the “locked up in a closet” numbers people
We were supposed to look for D’s and I’s personalities to promote to the next levels.
Can you tell I am not actually a high “I?” Here, have some cake.  |

Oh for heavensake PUR – ok here we go again from something I posted previously this am:
For the record I feel that PUR did everything in her power to make sure my privileges were taken away (and I wasn’t karma-spamming anyone or smiting anyone).
A week later I could no longer view my own profile and my message tab (to receive and send PMs) went MIA. I’d bet $$ that PUR had her hands in that too.
It’s funny cuz the last two privileges were taken away AFTER a POSITIVE thread about me was posted by someone I had done consignment work for on PT and several commented on it. The thread was deleted at the same time my privileges were taken away. At that moment I decided to I log out and never looked back.
The next day around noon (I hadn’t logged in to PT) I got an e-mail from Tracy that IMO was very obviously written by PUR and modified by Tracy.
If I am wrong on any of these comments, PUR can certainly contact me. She has my e-mail (both hotmail and my real e-mail and home phone # – we were good friends at one time or so I thought) and can set the record straight at any time.
Until then, I will go with what I believe in my heart to be true. Don’t get me wrong – Tracy is the one who spawns these thoughts in people’s heads, then sits back and watches someone else do her dirty work. I get that, I do. Tracy used me for her dirty work too and I am ashamed at my actions.
PUR – you know where I am if you want to set the record straight.
Additionally – I was officially “banned/blacked out” within 4 days of receiving Tracy’s e-mail that I was welcome to post on PT (without privileges).

On that thread, her comments to me are horribly sarcastic — and she is obviously trying to bait me the entire time (e.g., “Define mass exodus.”) I gotta say, PUR, you may have been trying to piss me off, but what you did was make me laugh, hard. Well hello there everybody. I’m so glad to see more people fleeing from PT. It seems like we’re getting all the good ones. I just got finished reading the rest of the thread over there (which is now locked by the way since TC spoke her peace and got the last word). She says no one gets in trouble for asking questions but when anyone does they’re told to quit stirring the pot and basically mind your own business. How is it that everyone reading this shit can be simple minded enough to just shut the hell up and go along with it? And that shit about there being 2,600 people there and those who have left are only a handfull…. What-the-fuck-ever. I’m sure it’s nothing new but you know that number include most (if not all) of the people here as well as Tracy’s numerous personalities.
Anyway, kudos to Apple and Marvie for standing up as well as anyone else who goes against the grain. Long live the minority!!!!!

I didn’t like how some people can boo and not get in trouble and others boo and get scolded for bad behavior. I couldn’t justify some of the boos I’ve seen. I booed someone for annoying me late one night. You know how you have to have 30 posts in order to have some privileges? Well, there was this person who signed on to the discussion board and wanted to make all her 30 posts within her first hour. So that pissed me off and I booed her because I thought she was a troll. She wasn’t even following the rules on some of the threads (anyone remember the TPBM thread?) I think I was jealous because it took me several months to get 30 posts! LOL! I was thinking to myself, “dammit I studied this board (lurked) and tried to get a sense of the etiquette before I jumped in so why can’t she be more like me?” So, several months later, I discovered that my reaction to her was the real problem and she was working the inventory boards; she wasn’t a troll afterall. And I apologized to her by applauding her. So, you see, class, that is how issues get resolved. No one needed to step in and tell me what to do. No one needed to erase the past boo in order to “restore” the karma.
Since I was a Maven I knew exactly what to do. LOL! That is not true! Actually, I think it is not that I know exactly what to do, rather that when I think I have a good idea I try it out. Booing someone is not a good idea. I learned my lesson.
I did know my Maven responsibilities because mine was one of the more well-defined (in charge of translation and running the Spanish section) but I was not a moderator by any means. I always found that when I made a suggestion to Tracy, she took it. I thought our relationship was really nice. She has always been very good to me. But she has stunned me several times with her sarcasm and paranoia. I also like PUR. We had a great PM relationship and she has helped me, made me laugh, encouraged me as the Spanish Maven, encouraged me to be honest with myself, given me lots of karma and in many instances she has been a good example, and I will always like her for that no matter what anyone else says. But she has also stunned me with her meanness and self-righteousness. I have been trying to peacefully work things out with Tracy and PUR throughout this past month. I have tried to “move on” and not “stir the pot” and I’ve tried so hard to follow the rules. But it became more than I could handle. I had some really good times at PT and I will miss it.
Thank you, Duh, for helping me see how unhealthy my behavior was. The counter said I had been logged on for more than 13 days (that means 312 hours). I was still longing to learn more and make more friends, but morale was down. For example, when I said “welcome to PT” to a newbie my heart wasn’t in it anymore.
I did not leave PT in defense of any one troublemaker.
I kept debating with myself whether or not to leave. And it was not due to outside influences. It was internal conflict and red flags and a sense of hopelessness. I agree with Licious, “what-the-fuck-evAH”.

I found this blog yesterday (and a few others), and things made more sense (about why people were being banned and whatever), but I had already decided I didn’t want to go back to PT. It is just too crazy and hostile over there on PT. :o(

Seeing as my name has been dragged through the mud on this site for days on end without anyone having the decency to let me KNOW it was being dragged through the mud and at least allowing me the chance to defend myself – no, thanks. A simple pm letting me know would have been appreciated. Instead, I am going through posts and get this thrown at me. Great.
I didn’t even get the chance to go through all of the horrible comments that were made over the course of 5 or 6 days. I am already in tears. Congratulations, ladies.
If I made remarks over on the PT board that were considered mean or hateful, I apologize. Some of the comments indicated I had been “horrible” on the PT boards. I don’t recall any, and they have apparently been deleted anyway, but sometimes things come across as mean when typed on a screen. If I have done this, I apologize.
I did my BEST to not be snarky, hateful or mean to anyone who questioned me on the thread. I tried to be honest and polite to everyone. Too bad the same wasn’t done here for me. :o(
AND, I emailed Tracy and ASKED her to remove the thread as soon as it started causing problems, BTW. (though she didn’t, obviously) If anyone had taken the time to talk to ME instead of just smearing my name all over this blog, you would have known that.
PT is a HELL of a lot better than what greeted me here.

Listen though, you have to remember that when things get posted here – we trash a lot of people. I would wager good money that most of the posters that are here now were trashed at some point or another by one or all of us. Not everybody here gets along – some out right hate each other.
You are right – we don’t even *know* who you are. You are merely a name on a screen. Just as I am. This isn’t a slam against you personally – it’s a slam against whatever you may or may not have said, which may or may not have been communicated effectively. You were in a PT fog and that’s okay – most of us here have been at one point or another. You have no idea how many of us have slammed and outright insulted each other – but we move on.
It’s not that we hate you – we don’t even fucking know you. How can we hate someone we don’t know. It’s just words on a screen. Sure, it sucks to read it sometimes, but shit, you probably wouldn’t even know one of us if you fell on us and vice versa.

I don’t think anyone hates you, hun. Some questions were asked, and I think legitimate ones, regarding your site and what it possibly promoted and/or supported and others got a bit defensive that there would be such questions. I think you handled everything fine, things just got away from you and arguments developed between other members and whether or not people have a right to question things. Usually what is good for the goose is good for the gander but that is not so on PT. TC decides what is good for people. That, my dear, is utter bullshit.
