What’s a little lie among Pink Truthers?

bm1134boys-stink-lie-posters.jpg

This post reminded me of how Pink Truthers are always complaining that MK is unethical and makes them be unethical too.  So who makes them be shady now?   Who is ‘controlling’ them now to make them lie again and again while filling out their forms for product replacement?  When they leave Pink Truth, will they blame Tracy for these acts?  Do they think that it’s ok to be a bad person and lie as long as you feel wronged?  To me, thats the best sign of a pyschopath.  Justification for immorality.   I wouldn’t be surprised if they steal cable and blame the cable companies for it.  You know… they make too much money, blah blah blah.  Any reason we can think of to get one over on the man.

If this is what they do after MK, what do you think they did in MK?  These wouldn’t be any of the directors who would place orders in their recruit’s names just to make production.  I’m sure they were just perfect angels.

product replacement….too good to be true?? 4 Days ago Karma: 1  Karma+ Karma-
I’ve used the product replacement service a couple of times with no problems. I just entered the info re the old product, and ordered what product I wanted to replace it. It was really easy, and I’m wondering if there is any down side to using it. I ask b/c it seems too easy and RIGHT for MK to offer it.
Any thoughts or negative experiences?

I used it quite a lot to move old lipsticks I wasn’t selling and reordered things I could sell. I never had any problems. I found out that you can’t return more than four items at a time without having to call in and let them “allow” you to do so. Other than that I did it every couple of weeks and was never questioned except once.My guess is that if too many people take advantage of it they may change it because it because it doesn’t make MK any money.

thanks, this helps alot! Yeah, I feel sure that there is a point where MK would/will pull the plug on this. Every couple of weeks is more than I would have thought to be safe, so COOL! I will be taking advantage for sure!

Of course I always felt that MK must have thought I was an idiot for not being able to match my customers that well..hee hee. I picked on my mom a lot as someone who returned product, that was always the hard part for me, deciding who needed to “return” something.

There was a comment a while back from someone on this… let me see if I can get it right. She got questioned about a replacement order for herself, and was told by the MK rep on the phone the she (the IBC) was not a customer. The rep indicated MK would replace for anyone other than the IBC, to which the IBC asked well, what if it was my dog? And the MK rep laughingly said she thought that would work.My cat has become a HUGE fan of MK… but she’s very picky and returns a lot of product, especially outdated stuff that is off-odor or too thick

Yes, I remember that thread. How ironic is it that an IBC is not considered a legitimate customer, however a dog is. What is wrong with this picture?

Actually you CAN return more than 4 things without having to call them first. I just did a product return for 7 items – 2 different customers – and it didn’t even blink at me while entering them. $234 worth.

Screw U, thank you for posting this. As many of us mkers have said, unethical people are going to be unethical whether they are in or out of Mary Kay. MK has this product return on the honour system so these people are willing to take advantage of it and then when MK does have to make us return the used product or put other safeguards in place, then they will complain about MK not trusting people or not being able to make money off of this. Call me naive, but how can one be proud to advertise how dishonest they are? And they talk about being able to be more Christian now that they are out of MK?? I guess stealing is okay as long as you do it to benefit yourself.

The other thing I have seen on PT is if one is going to send product back on a buyback but has successfuly sold and can send back more than she has left, they will get some other member that still has product left and add it on to the return. Now, just how wrong is that?? Isn’t that totally illegal? Not to mention they wrong people are going to get penalized with a chargeback that they shouldn’t but I guess, it doesn’t matter who they hurt.

And all the members that read it and want to speak out and say “hey” this really is wrong, can’t because they just know they will get banned. But then they can come over here and have more fun anyway!

  2. What I never got was that we never had to send the product BACK to MK. I know that it would have been a PITA, but it would have made more sense.

  3. Rebecca said

We used to have to send the product back. Fill out the form, box it up, take it to UPS. Ship it off. I did UPS because the insured the first $100 for free. USPS does not. And UPS was cheaper.

  4. I like that we don’t have to send it back. I hold on to it for the recommended 30 days and then pitch or use it if it’s skin care. I use returned Time Wise for myself. It’s in the bottle and most of the returns come back barely used. Then I don’t have to dig in my inventory for another personal use item.

  5. MK4ME (B.S) said

The Company did use to make us send the product back. It is another expense for Mk though to dispose of all the returned products, so they went to the honor system – that way individual consultants can throw away the item that was returned or like shades said, if it isn’t something that people can’t get in and contaminate, use if for themselves or often I donate almost new, barely used items to a women’s shelter. Only if it is something like eye shadow or lipstick, where it can get “germy” do I throw it away or something like a returned perfume could always be used as a demo.

By having us mail it back, it does add an expense to us (postage). So this new way actually benefits everyone. However, if it continues to be misused by those dishonest, it will change back, once again adding cost to the consultant. And once again the honest once will pay the price for the dishonest ones.

  6. Starr said

Well, part of the problem is that simply too many bodies are recruited into MK with little or no regard as to the character and fitness of that person to run an ethical business.

Recruiting is the name of the game– just sign ’em up and get them to order– so the recruiter can make DIQ or Directorship. Then forget ’em and recruit some more in an endless cycle. Far too many of these recruits are simply not going to make it and are left with product they can’t sell and can’t pay for.

When you have many people out there who feel backed against the wall, they will do unethical and desperate things to save themselves. The honor system is just ripe for abuse and will continue to be abused because there are too many inappropriate people being recruited into MK so someone can make their quota for whatever.

Every time this subject comes up on an internet board- and it does come up on a regular basis- more desperate people are getting step-by-step instruction on how to abuse the current product return.system.

It probably won’t be much longer until the company goes back to the old way of returning product. The old way is a bit harder to do but requires a bit more elbow grease than just clicking the mouse on the In-Touch website. It would be nice if they also would make it a bit harder to earn directorship as well. The company is need of some major reform.

  7. Rebecca said

Based on Starr’s comment, sounds to me like it’s the human race that’s in need of some major reform.

Anybody know of any test that can be used to determine a person’s character? One that an unethical person can’t trick?

  8. MK4ME (B.S) said

First, not all of us will recruit just anyone – my unit is a reflection of who I am, and personally I do not want just “anyone” in my unit. And I certainly don’t want to let someone loose on society that could be less than honest, especially since they would have access to their clients credit cards and some personal information. I don’t want to waste my time and energy training someone that isn’t serious about wanting to try to do something with their MK.

I do agree they should make getting to directorship harder to obtain though. I think many directors are starting out way too weak and end up struggling and that is no fun.

Second off, what are you suppose to do if you do have someone interested, hook them up to a lie detector to see if they are “good folk”. We must judge the impression we get when we meet them.

Anyone that wants out can use the 90% buyback, to abuse the product return is just wrong. Back up against the wall – doesn’t work as a defense for doing something illegal or unethical.

  9. Starr said

I agree, girls. The problems are inherent with the way MK is currently marketing. It’s all about numbers and speed. Of course, there are still many like yourselves that aren’t going about things that way and are trying to do things ethically. It is going to be a losing battle when there are twice or more as many of you doing things the OTHER way.

When most MKers are only interested in recruiting warm bodies as quickly as possible so they can catch the golden ring, which IMO is the direction MK has been going for the past ten years or more, the chickens are finally coming home to roost. It’s not pretty, either.

I have no problem with the human race either. I think the majority of us are good people who are trying to do our best, given our situations. I also think you pro-MKers are probably good people too.

You can do things the right and ethical way only to find that there are many more in MK who don’t and won’t ever do things that way and are going to ruin things for you. That has been my experience with the company and I think it will continue going that way until it either runs itself in the ground or some miracle causes MK corporate to totally change the way it is operating.

But, hope is eternal, girls. I can’t read tea leaves so who knows?

At one meeting that i went to, I was the oldest person there, and I’m NOT that old. I was 31. I’m older than my SD by 4 months.

  12. That’s rather scary, Accountable! I knew someone who I thought recruited very young people (18, 19, 20). I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that. I prefer talking to people at least as old as I was when I started (27). I think you can do some fun selling events for college students–I do sorority makeovers–but when it comes to team building, go for the recommended targets: 25-45; some college experience, living on own, etc. I look for things that tell me this is someone who would like to try this kind of work.
I think of some of the basics my director suggested when I joined: we prospect for facials and sales from everyone with skin; we don’t try to recruit everyone with skin. 😉

Since the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth doesn’t seem to be a valued commodity on PT, I can’t say that this thread with folks tacitly endorsing a dishonesty surprises me a lot. But it’s not an idea that originated with these PT ladies, sad to say; it’s been around for a while. Someone suggested to me at a unit meeting a couple of years back that both Missy the Cat and her littermate Mollie (now deceased) would be wonderful “clients” to use for precisely this purpose. As if! My cats have the highest morals.

There’s always someone looking for a way to game the system…

  16. Casual Reader said

MK4ME. First you say “The other thing I have seen on PT is if one is going to send product back on a buyback but has successfuly sold and can send back more than she has left, they will get some other member that still has product left and add it on to the return. Not to mention they wrong people are going to get penalized with a chargeback that they shouldn’t but I guess, it doesn’t matter who they hurt.”

I did something like this but bought the things on eBay instead of getting from another consultant. Before you pass judgment on me, read another of your comments….

“the honor system – that way individual consultants can throw away the item that was returned or like shades said, if it isn’t something that people can’t get in and contaminate, use if for themselves or often I donate almost new, barely used items to a women’s shelter. Well Miss Ethics…the honor system says you should throw that product away!!! If you want a perfume demo—BUY IT!

What does the (BS) mean in your name?

  17. MK4ME (B.S) said

Casual Reader, I guess you have a point, I will no longer donate to the woman’s shelter or demo. I will throw it away, of course, after I keep it for the thirty days that the Company requires of me. My heart has a hard time throwing in the garbage something someone less fortunate then myself may be able to put to good use, but you are correct and I stand corrected.

And… the BS stands for Black Sheep because when I first start reading and posting her, the majority of the members were anti pt and anti mk, but still allowed me to participate and laugh with them…. So it was a joke, and since it sort of looked like b*ll sh*t – black sheep it was a little play since I try to keep a vocabulary that teens can repeat.

Thank you very much for pointing out that my view was fuzzy on the side of charity.

And thank you, for the advice, I personally do buy my demo’s, I have always simply donated the other stuff. Thank you for your concern.

May I point out though, I will call the Company tomorrow and find out their opinion on throwing it in the garbage or donating to a women’s shelter. I don’t think where I throw something is fraud. I do believe something like buying something off of ebay to return for the Company for you to be reimbursed 90% of what you paid the Company for it when you didn’t get it from the Company is.

  18. MK4ME (B.S) said

Dear Casual Reader, just for your informations below are the actual terms and conditions from Intouch on Product Returns, wow, I guess, I should have checked before listening to you… it says properly dispose of … I will call Legal tomorrow to find out if it within our Corporate Guidelines to continue to donate these items to the Woman’s Shelter before I assume you are right.
    Thank you.

Handling of returned items: product returned to you by a customer should not be forwarded to the Company. For quality assurance measures, you should retain returned items for a minimum of thirty (30) days from the date you submit the online product replacement request to the Company. After the expiration of the thirty-day holding period, properly dispose of the returned items in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, unless you are contacted by the Company to do otherwise. In an effort to enhance customer satisfaction, the Company may contact you and/or the customer for quality assurance measures.

  19. Rebecca said

This is just a guess mind you, but I’m guessing that various States just might have varying “applicable laws and regulations”.

Buying MK stuff on Ebay to include in the 90% buy back is really really really really unethical. Cheap and dirty.

  20. Dana said

Also, I think motives matter. To buy from ebay for a buyback can only have two motivations – get extra money for yourself or screw the company. Neither are right, when done at the expense of others. Donating to a woman’s shelter, while it may be against the rules, is done in a spirit of wanting to help those going through a hard time. Not that I’m advocating it, but I just think you’re not comparing apples to apples.

  21. Casual Reader said

“To buy from ebay for a buyback can only have two motivations – get extra money for yourself or screw the company.”

Add one more motivation to that. To recoup some of the 10% loss. When you call the company and they say you can return a certain $ amount they are leaving the door wide open. NOW, if this company actually cared about retail sales, and kept track of that, the dollar amount you could return would reflect any sales.

It was after being in the company for 3 months that I realized the focus was not about selling a product, instead about getting more women to join up. I believed the hype and purchased a large amount. I did not sell much, or at least not at full retail. Most of what was missing from my inventory had been used as display, demo, you know how it goes. So my motivation was to not LOSE as much money.

I guess what I was wanting to bring to light is that we are all sinners. We are human and can’t avoid it. But we must be careful not to judge.

For the record, using the product return to get rid of items in your inventory that are not selling? TO ME, that would feel wrong. Doing the best thing possible with true returns, give to a shelter-use in some way. TO ME, that would feel right.

  22. ScrewU said

    Casual Reader
Your returning product that wasn’t yours and then justifying it by saying you were just trying to recoup your 10% loss doesn’t make it right. Thats my point. Just because you are trying to save yourself a loss, doesn’t mean you can throw your morals to the wind. It’s the belief that rules only apply when they don’t negatively impact your life that bring down normally good people.

Here’s an example: Let’s say that you have bought yourself an investment property. After buying it, and fixing it up, you end up losing money on the deal. It’s a BIG loss for you. Now at tax time, you find out that you can’t claim the whole loss. Only a piece of it. What do you do now? Make up write offs to try to recoup your damages? Or do you say to yourself, ‘well… that was an expensive lesson learned’ and only claim what you legitimately can?

It’s my opinion that it’s not the BIG decisions that mark our character, it’s the little ones. The ones that we battle internally. The choices we make when we figure no one will know about it but we know. Even when noone is looking, do you return the wallet with the ID you found on the street? Or do you pocket the money and throw it away. Noone knows you have it. These are the choices I think that ultimately set us up for our demise. Negotiating within our own conscious’ to do what we know is wrong. But we justify it because we want it. That justification still doesn’t make it right.

And as far as not judging goes… I feel we can judge people’s actions. What I believe we aren’t supposed to do is make a blanket judgement on a person just because they are a sinner. Yes, we are all sinners. But does that mean that we don’t call someone out when we know that they are sinning? I think we should. I didn’t call these Pink Truthers lying pieces of sh*t that should rot in hell. I said what they were doing was wrong and they justify it by saying they got screwed and therefore have license to screw back.

  23. Casual Reader said

“Your returning product that wasn’t yours and then justifying it by saying you were just trying to recoup your 10% loss doesn’t make it right.” I did not mean to justify it by saying that. I was saying that that was my motivation. Alot of consultants will buy product from another consultant when they do not have it and need it, right? Does the company want you to do that? No. So it is wrong? Thank you for the real estate example, it did pause me to rethink. After comparing the examples I don’t think that is comparing apples to apples though. The government is not telling you that you can deduct your whole loss. Mary Kay is telling me that I can return $$. This is where I could be wrong, but I think that alot of consultants have handled product that came from sources other than MK. MK is not saying you can only return product that you acquired through them. So I guess how I have justified what I did is because MK told me the $$ amount I could return.

“It’s my opinion that it’s not the BIG decisions that mark our character, it’s the little ones.” That line will be my thought for the day. What scares me is that I still do not think doing what I did in this situation was “wrong”. As much as I hate the line, I will say It’s just business. Thank you all for your thoughts on this matter.

  24. ScrewU said

I looked up the MK return policy as I couldn’t believe it didn’t address whom you had to purchase the products from and found this:

    http://www.marykay.com/company/justthefaqs/justthefaqs.aspx?tab=home

“Finally, if you change your mind or decide that a Mary Kay business is not for you, you can take comfort in knowing that the Company will repurchase, at 90 percent of your original net cost, original and unused Section 1 products, provided such items were purchased by you from the Company within one year prior to return”

I’m certainly not trying to throw you under the bus Casual Reader. My point is that everyday good people will do shady and dishonest things that ultimately lead to them becoming a shady person. It’s part of the moral erotion. It’s what we need to guard against. In our personal life and in our business life. We still need to act in a way that demonstrates our true character or it will soon will be our true character to finesse the truth to make it more of what we want.

Not to be mistaken as the moral police (Mr. Screw does a fine job of that), I just thought it would be good to discuss something like this. I hope you do consider what I’m saying. They say Al Capone did not even think that he was a bad person. Because he didnt think that what he had done was wrong. I’m sure he didn’t start out being the big bad gangster that he was, he evolved into it. And I’m sure that his little bitty choices of moral was the beginning of it all. What’s the saying? The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

  25. Beautifully stated, ScrewU. 🙂

  26. Casual Reader said

I agree with shades. Again, thank you for your kind strong words.

Saying “It’s just business” …… so if the Enron honchos had said that, would that make it okay? Millions of people lost millions, but hey ‘it’s just business.’

The 10% loss is a known risk of doing business. Before buying inventory, I’m sure you were told Mary Kay has a 90% buyback program on inventory purchased within a year.

I cannot see where donating items to a women’s shelter would be wrong. You are not personally benefiting from the items – but other women certainly are. I speak from personal experience that anything you do to help those women is greatly appreciated. Those women often have NOTHING – they arrive with only the clothes on their backs, sometimes, for safety reasons. I was once one of “those” women – so I know that of which I speak! 😀

Casual Reader, you knew about the 90% buyback rule. For MKC to say you can return up to XXX amount, it did not mean you should use dishonest methods to arrive at that figure. If you did not have that amount on your shelves means you either sold it or used it. To use dishonest methods so you can squeeze out every possible dime from MKC is just plain….creepy. Seriously. You have issues.

Since the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior, one can only believe that this lack of ethics is not new for you.

    Just sayin’.

    Shay,

When my wife left the cult we (she) donated a ton of stuff to the local women’s shelter, thousands and thousands of dollars worth. I thought it was a good idea. Much of what she had on the shelves, under the bed, in the closets, etc., was dated beyond the MK product return eligibility date anyway. We were glad something somewhat positive could be had from an enterprise which so consistently harms so many women, the Mary Kay Cosmetics “opportunity.”

It was just simply time for us to get out. Giving to the women’s center was a wonderful win-win situation. It was a part of our cult exit process and also provided some free product for some folks struggling with some tough times.

I’m sorry to hear you were at one time the benefactor of the services provided by a women’s shelter. I hope you’re doing well today. I also hope (as you might suspect) that you’re reconsidering any thoughts of actually reentering this cult.

Ya know, whether you engage in the common MK victimization of women or simply become a personal use IBC, any involvement in MK, arguably, propagates the beast that harms women. I hope you’ll decide to have nothing to do with it.

My wife and I made many mistakes during our stint with the “opportunity.” Our biggest, perhaps, was placing so much trust in others. Our ignorant culpability in this regard, though, is mitigated because we didn’t have exposure to the many MK clarity outlets available today. You do. I recommend you not feed the beast. I hope you enjoy the pleasure home schooling brings you and the gift of spending so much time with your child(dren). We allowed our faith to become somewhat co-oped. We learned healthy skepticism is a requirement for all even considering an MLM. It disgust me to recall the way we were manipulated to do some things, all purportedly in the name of Christ. I say to anyone, don’t be part of it!

Good luck in whatever decision you make. I hope it’s not too late for you to simply pass on the “opportunity.”

    Blessed

As you were fast to judge me, turns out I may dispose of the LEGALLY returned product as I choose as long as I obey the laws of my State. The laws as it was explained to me by the State Representative are designed to protect and this is what he used as an example … you can’t dump oil from a car engine you have changed just anywhere… proper dispose procedures need to be followed, and disposing of tc (ooops) should have been tw, toxic waste, can’t be just thrown in a garbage can. Hospital waste must be handled in a certain way.

Thank you for pointing this out as now I have a clear conscious about continuing to donate non -compromised -not out of date products. ( I do not take them as a tax deduction either, because it is a business donation not personal). (Just wouldn’t want you to worry abut “Miss Ethics” any more.)

And I never said I was perfect, far from it, ask my kids -probably my hubby too .. as I have said before, I just set the best example I can.

So everyone, have a great day, but I think I will stay with
mk4me (BS) -nope not b*ll sh*t, just me the Black Sheep!

Don’t much care for Miss Ethics, sounds to much like Miss Manners.

Glad to hear that, MK4ME!! Glad to hear you can still donate! Woo hooooo!!

    Blessed –

I am doing fine (except for some PMS – no biggie – rather be PMSing than preggers! LOL)….have a wonderful hubby and enjoying the kiddos. I use my unfortunate experience to help others – from those who are fleeing abuse to those who are in positions of authority who might be tempted to turn a blind eye to someone coming to them for help (as happened to me – I was told by my pastor to “go home and pray” when I asked for help).

I’m afraid I WILL be “feeding the beast” as you put it….LOL…and I am looking forward to it! 😉

My hubby says this jokingly, or at least I think he does,

I suffer from PMS, DMS, and AMS — Prior, During, and After, we have figured out I am excellent for one week a month.

    We also joke

    PMS = Putting up with Men’s Sh*t
    DMS = Dealing with Men’s Sh*t
AMS = Angry with Men’s Sh*t and Your menstralcycle and menopause are both caused by “men”

Please before someone takes offense, we are joking with each other, you would just have to understand us if it doesn’t sound funny to you.

    Have a Super Day Everyone!!!!

  38. MK4ME (B.S) said

to Causal Reader, if I sounded “snarky” in my answer to you, I will apologize, you hit a soft spot. Hubby is always teasing me because I am one of those folks, that will not go in the exit door, or out an enter door, I will stop at a stop sign in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere, if I get too much change back at the register, I will return it, and I overtip at restaurants because I know how hard those servers work for their money and how much crap they must take from some people.

I take in stray animals, because I know they can’t take care of themselves, and I can’t stand seeing cruelty to anyone especially kids and animals. I think anyone one that is an owner of a dog that they use in dog fighting when they get caught, should be put in a pen with the other dog owners and have to fight while the dogs watch. (I can’t even watch movies like Ole Yeller, becasue I am depressed for days).

So hubby affectionately refers to me as a little “goody two shoes” .

This discussion reminded me of the above quote. Be careful of ‘fudging’ the ethics line. Once done, the second time is easier and soon the line is non-existent.

BTW, Shay, I am an IBC, and when your eyes are open you can make a little money and have fun. Now that I don’t want to attend meetings, meet those challenges/quotas, I am doing ok. I figure I get my stuff free this way and help with family expenses. So, with your current knowledge, have fun with it!

Blessed, I don’t feel that I am ‘feeding the beast’, I feel that I am working with the system – as ethically as possible. I do occasionally trade with other consultants…maybe 3 times a year…so guess that is my bad. I think passing on to the downtrodden is an excellent idea and a big pat on the back to those who have done it. At the end of the day, we have to live with ourselves. Are you satisfied with your actions/words/deeds?

MK4ME….you were no more “snarky” than I deserved! What was I thinking with the Miss Ethics comment. I am sorry for typing that. My apologizes.

My soft spot in all this is I feel MK is rampant in unethical behavior…myself included. I do not think that you can reach the higher levels of the business and do it ethically. And when it is discussed, whether here or on PT, there is NO ONE that says, yeah I did that. Anyone who posts portrays “Oh yeah that happens but I don’t do anything like that.” Whatever.

And Shay? All’s cool here EXCEPT I now have another issue…..I can’t get Adam Ant’s Goody Two Shoes song out of my head!

    Hi all,

First of all, I felt this topic was SO hot that I stole it. Sure y’all wont mind. 😉

I linked to you of course – with the normal “warning”

    Wanna see? Click Here

That said, on to the important thing… Blessed is back!

In about 3 1/2 hours, it will be Feb. (30 minutes for you)

You said you are coming out here in Feb and then kind of left me hanging when I asked you some specifics.

I am still game for a meet and greet if you are. I told you my schedule, still waiting to hear yours.

Once again (in case you are pretending you didn’t notice the first time) I work from 9a-6p and have a 30 minute commute on both sides of that. I am willing to meet you somewhere in the Valley in the evening or just about anywhere in L.A. on the weekend.

So – when will you be here? How long? Mostly daytime stuff? Or evenings?

    Everyone else,

    Hi

I like Roam. I wasn’t a fan of Love Shack. 😉 Back in the 90’s I was more into mosh pits and metal shows though. 😮

You make me feel like….Mony mony..
Good Goody Two..Don’t drink don’t smoke..
With the Rebel yell, long, long ago
Total Eclipse of the Heart..living in a powder keg and giving off sparks…

My stepson got my a special 5 CD Collection of Songs from the 80’s for Christmas, we look like a bunch of loons booping around in the car. Even my 16 year old daughter knows the songs. We do an awesome duet of Meatloaf.

So now I ‘m praying for the end of time to hurry up and arrive cuz if I gotta spend another minute with you I don’t think that I could really survive, never break my promise or forget my vowes but Lord only knows what I could do right now…… and we are loud…. not on key but we have fun!

“It is our choices, Harry, far more than our abilities, that make us who we are.”

  53. Well, while we’re throwing out movie/cultural references . . . I heard Batman say, “It’s what I do that defines me.”

  54. When I hear “Mony Mony”, I hear the extra words in my head. If I’m by myself, I’ll sing them aloud. Don’t wanna expose the kids to that! LOL!!

do something so long your heart is hard and you don’t feel it is wrong.

I have been in MK for a quarter of a century…oh my, just told my age! almost anyway. I noticed some new directors coming from corporate usually that were not so…Go Give..now ya gotta know it was drummed into us back in the day to be Go Give and many times many of us bent that rule over backwards to our own detriment..My point is I gotta lay my head on my pillow at night and know I did the best I could when dealing with others as MK4me has tried to do with her heart that seems to be very tender with others. There are always going to be those that hurt others and that is not exclusive to MK. No excuse and in a perfect world (when Jesus comes) should not, would not happen.

Be Honest…Mary Kay’s thoughts on the importantce of building trust with others.

“As we journey through life, the most valuable assets we carry with us are our intergrity, our reputation, the good, honest name upon which we can build our future in business. Integrity is the calling card we leave behind when we are gone. It is the one trait our customers remember most often when they think of us. When they believe in us, they believe in our product. and wehn they believe in our product, they guarantee our success.”

I personally haven’t returned anything to MK yet. I have had to call about an item being broken~they sent me a knew one and I use the broken one. I have also had to call about an item not being received~they sent me the item.

That is all I have to say for now.

Becca, The only ethics test is to look at their actions when a trying time is near. And even then, desperate times sometimes lead to desperate measures. I’m not condoning unethical behavior…but I have made my mistakes in life, too. I guess it is hard to use the word “unethical” because it is very judgemental and final. Like, “OMG, you are so UNETHICAL”. Instead of “Hey that was not a really smart move” or “Perhaps you could have done things differently”. I dunno, I’m just saying…MK is not the “ethics test”. I don’t think there is one. There’s just life and trying to do your best. Being unethical is when you deliberately allow yourself to do less than your best or let yourself slide on things you know your shouldn’t. It should not be used to describe another person, but to look inside ourselves and see how we can improve.

Wow, I read the main topic and then about half of the comments (cuz this is a rockin blog where there’s lots of comments!). I’ll share my story of the whole product return on honor system thing. While an IBC, once I figured out you could do it, I regulary did fake returns. After being emailed by the co. to confirm these returns and they tried calling the fake customer phone #’s I had entered and then asked me what was up, I figured out their system. Their product replacement system had exact limits per return per customer, and how much in returns per month. So I met those limits. I did it because I had a butt-load of products on my shelf that weren’t selling and orders for product I didn’t have. This was the way I filled some of those orders, or the way I tried some products when they first came out, and the way I accumulated extra product to send back w/ my final repurchase return. I also bought at wholesale products from 2 different former IBC’s who were $10,000+ and $30,000+ in MK debt b/c I had room in my return for it. My thinking at the time was that I was eligible for that much $$ worth of a return, and my SD was eligible for that much $$ worth of a chargeback because I did actually order that much $$ worth of product at one point from the company. But yes, that’s just justifying things and twisting things to make them fit a motive. My motive was to help those women who hadn’t ordered in the last year get a little $$ back. My motive with the product replacement program while in MK was less than honorable. I know that, I felt bad about it at times even though no one ever had to know – I knew and it did make me feel bad. I too am generally a person who, for recent examples, returns things to the store if they were under the kids’ snowgear and don’t get charged, or turns in money found in the parking lot to the lost and found at the grocery store, etc. I don’t know what I was thinking – it was wrong. Sometimes good people make really bad, even though seemily ‘little’ choices, and I agree – that’s how it all gets started. I’ve reconciled w/ God over it and that’s all that matters to me. I’m not offended that you guys or anyone else think it’s horrible that these things are done, I just think it’s done way more than people think, because even honest people when given the freedom to can slip up. I wouldn’t do it again, just for my own peace of mind.
I was also part of many discussions on PT about these topics – the how-to’s w/o getting caught by MK, the finer details of the MK system limits, etc. I was never admonished at all. I think once someone (PUR?) chimed in and said that TC doesn’t advocate this behaviour, in reference to the buying of other exconsultant’s products to put in w/ a repurchase return. Which IMO, is still not as ill-motived as lying on the product replacement form to get free stuff. It’s stealing. There now, have fun verbally crucifying me my lovely bitches!
